SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS ACTIVITIES 2025-26
The ASISC (West Bengal and North East States) organized the SDG celebration week for the Pre-Primary and Primary section on the occasion of Republic Day. This initiative aimed to commemorate Republic Day by sensitising young learners to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The focusing themes of the SDG week for the year 2026 were –
- SDG 4-Quality Education
- SDG 5-Gender Equality and
- SDG 15-Life on Land
St. Michael’s School Durgapur carried out the SDG celebration week from 19th January 2026 to 22nd January 2026. The children from classes Pre-Nursery to class 5 took active part in this celebration week with various fun filled activities.
Pre- Nursery- SDG 15- Protect today, Survive tomorrow.
Based on this theme the Pre- Nursery children planted saplings and took care of the plants by watering them. They also had the joyful activity of colouring a giraffe with their thumb impression.
Nursery – SDG 15 – Step into Nature and stand up for the Trees.
With this strong caption the children of Nursery section took a nature walk and recited poems on nature in the school garden. They also had craft activity on ‘Save Trees’.
KG – SDG 15 – No Nature, No Future.
The Kindergarten children did the craft activity of making a tree and also had the outdoor activity of watering the plants in school.
Class 1- SDG 5 – Kind Hearts Make Us Equal.
The children performed an action song on ‘We are Equal’.
Class 2 – SDG 15 – Raising Eco Warriors of Tomorrow.
The Eco Warriors of class 2 enacted a skit and performed a dance and song on protection of the planet.
Class 3 – SDG – 15 – Future is Nature
The enthusiastic children of class 3 made posters with slogans based on kindness towards nature.
Class 4 – SDG 15 – When we heal the Earth, We heal ourselves.
To show their compassion towards nature, the children of class 4 made posters on saving life on Earth and also elaborated their thoughts on the theme.
Class 5 – SDG 15 – Save Earth
The children of class 5 penned down their thoughts on this theme in form of Creative Writing on the Importance of Planting Trees. They also made posters and collage on Global Warming. The SDG week concluded with a Flower Show on the 22nd of January which was organized by the school. This initiative by the ASISC helped in spreading awareness among the young learners through joyful and experiential activities. It also fostered the values of equality and care and being responsible citizens of the country.
