RABINDRA JAYANTI CELEBRATION 2026-27
St. Michael’s School, Durgapur, celebrated the birth of the legendary literary figure of India, the first ever Nobel Laureate of Asia, Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, on the occasion of his birth anniversary on 7th May 2026. The day is popularly known as Rabindra Jayanti, which is celebrated on the 25th of Baishakh in the Bengali calendar.
The Principal, the Headmistress and the Vice-Principal had graced the joyous occasion and lighted the inaugural lamp. Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Rabindranath Tagore as a mark of humble respect. A spontaneous and collective effort from students and teachers alike had produced a spell binding display of performances.
The pre primary section performed beautiful poems, made posters, cards, and origami. The tiny tots of classes 1 and 2 recited with dramatic enactment and a splendid programme of dance and recitation by the classes 4 and 5 was followed by the Kobipronam -a tribute to the maestro Rabindranath Tagore, through a speech. After a mesmerizing collage of dance and recitation by the secondary section, the programme concluded with melodious songs by the students’ and teachers’ choirs.
Our students have made us proud of their potential. In all, it was a gift to all the human senses and a captivating experience that coloured the emotions and profoundly affected the souls of each one present there. The auditorium seemed to be enlivened by a certain life force that enchanted the atmosphere and won over the minds and souls of all present there. Once again, the programme served as a reminder that the great poet’s timeless ideals will endure in the collective consciousness of humanity, resonating across posterity.
