INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2026-27

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2026-27

St. Michael’s School observed the 12th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and disciplined participation. Its primary objective was to promote holistic wellness and raise awareness among students about the immense physical and mental health benefits of practising Yoga. The stage at the Odeum was decorated with a huge and colourful flex highlighting different yogic postures in picturesque settings.

On the first day of the event, i.e., 21st June 2026, the programme started at 6:30 a.m. with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Thereafter, a brief introduction about the history and significance of International Yoga Day was delivered by one of our teachers, Mrs. Amrita Bhattacharya. Then, three of our students skilled in Yoga, demonstrated on stage various yogic postures and breathing exercises, synchronising their movements with the soothing music played in the background. A group of thirty-six students, along with the Principal, Mr. Charles Joseph Nyss, and a few teachers performed accordingly. The forty-five minutes’ session came to a closure with a vote of thanks delivered by the Principal encouraging everyone to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines. As a note of appreciation, chocolates were distributed among all the performers.

On the following day, i.e., 22nd June 2026, the programme at The Odeum resumed from 7:45 a.m. and continued till 1:00 p.m. Five Yoga students demonstrated on stage their expertise and skills to the tune of soulful music before the students of classes Pre-Nursery to Twelve. Specific time slots were allotted to each class and all actively participated, showing keen interest and dedication. The event also included a short talk on how Yoga helps in reducing stress and improving concentration, which is especially beneficial for students. In conclusion, the International Yoga Day celebration was a successful event that encouraged everyone to adopt Yoga as a part of their daily routine for a healthier lifestyle. The school looks forward to continuing such initiatives to promote wellness among its community.
