INTER-HOUSE DEBATE COMPETITION 2025-26

St.Michael’s School held its highly anticipated Inter House Debate for Classes IX -XII on 18th  July, 2025. The competition involved active participation from four different houses within the school: St. Andrew’s, St. David’s, St.Patrick’s, and St. George’s. Every house was represented by two members, one in favour of the motion, one against it.  The event showcased the impressive talents of our students as they engaged in thought-provoking debates on the pertinent topic. The Debate aimed to foster critical thinking, public speaking skills, and team work among our students.

The topic for the debate was “Online Education Offers Distinct Advantages Over Taditional Education.”  The event commenced with the welcoming of esteemed judges Mr. Snehasis Dey , a senior English teacher from Bidhan School; Mrs. Nilotpala Biswas, senior English teacher from St. Peter’s School and Mrs. Anita Nandi also from St. Peter’s School, Durgapur  The rules and regulations of the debate were explained, and the speakers spoke for and against the topic. The debaters put forward their views confidently and were extremely well-researched about the topic. All the participants were pupils with equal calibre and potential but in the end, some stood out shining brighter than the others. There were so many notable points presented by each team but the point presented by the winning team was the game –changer. Everyone present knew that the decision was rather difficult, even for the judges.

The Best Speaker was awarded to Aritro Roy (Class 12A) of St. Andrew’s House while the first Runner-up speaker was awarded to Writobreeta Roychowdhury (Class 10A) St. George’s House. First Runner up team was St.George’s House and St. Andrew’s House won the debate.
