BENGALI ACTIVITY DAY 2026-27

BENGALI ACTIVITY DAY 2026-27

To promote language proficiency, cultural appreciation, and creative self-expression, St. Michael’s School, Durgapur organized a Bengali Language Activity session for the Primary Section (Classes 1 to 5) during the academic session 2026–2027. The activities were carefully structured according to the cognitive and linguistic developmental levels of young learners. By combining visual learning, grammar drills, dramatic performance, value education, and research, the program provided a rich learning platform for all primary students.

Class-Wise Activity Breakdown

Class 1: Identifying the picture and saying their names (Flowers & Fruits)

Students were engaged in visual recognition where they identified various common fruits and flowers from colourful images and recited their names correctly in Bengali, strengthening basic vocabulary and pronunciation.

Class 2: Opposite Words

Focusing on language building, students were made to participate in interactive activities centered on antonyms in Bengali. This exercise enhanced their understanding of word meanings and contrasts present in the Bengali language.

Class 3: Singular Number & Plural Number (Acting)

To make grammatical concepts intuitive and lively, students demonstrated the concepts of singular and plural forms through dramatization and short acts.

Class 4: Demonstrating Good Behaviour with Action

For integrating moral education into language practice, the students were made to perform action-oriented activities and skits covering essential habits: greeting elders, helping a friend, keeping the classroom clean, sharing, being polite, following school rules, being kind, and saving water.

Class 5: Observing Pictures of Great Personalities & Describe Them

For fostering the spirit of research, critical thinking, and advanced oral expression, students were made to observe the portraits of eminent national leaders and personalities, presenting brief oral descriptions and highlighting their contributions in Bengali.

The Bengali language activity session yielded highly encouraging outcomes across all primary grades:

  • Vocabulary Expansion & Linguistic Foundation: Students gained confidence in vocabulary identification, correct pronunciation, and basic grammatical principles like singular/plural forms and opposites.
  • Enhanced Expressive & Drama Skills: Incorporating acting and role-play allowed students to break inhibitions, improved their stage presence, public speaking, and spontaneous expression in Bengali.
  • Holistic Character-Building & Moral Values: Through activities focused on etiquette, social responsibility, and learning about national icons, students internalized essential values like respect, cleanliness, empathy, and civic responsibility.
  • Active Engagement:  Experiential and activity-based approach ensured the active participation that made language learning an enjoyable and meaningful experience.
