INTER-SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION, 2023-2024
As teachers we always motivate our pupils to express their opinion boldly and to think rationally over pressing socio-cultural issues. Speaking out one’s mind is best encouraged when schools provide their students with platforms like Debate and Extempore. Learners learn to deliberate on a topic from varying viewpoints. They learn to judge the pros and cons of every situation.
This year St. Michael’s School once again organised the Inter House Debate Competition 2023- 2024. Students from classes 9 to 12 have participated. They stormed the stage with their zealous arguments. Diya Mishra of 10A was awarded as the best speaker, while Soumava Bandyopadhyay of class 10C received the 1st Runner Up position. St. Andrew’s House was declared as the winning team and St. George’s was awarded the 1 st Runner Up position. Teachers from neighbouring schools were invited as judges, whose words of encouragement and praise bolstered the confidence of the participants. The event ended with the felicitation of the judges and the Principal’s address to the audience.
It was an invigorating experience for all teachers present there to know about the thoughts and ideas of their pupils. They too have learnt from the opinion and outlook of today’s youth. The success of the students never fail to bring joy and pride to their mentors. We look forward to more of such exposures for an overall development of our students.
