INDEPENDENCE DAY 2024
On Thursday, 15th August 2024, St. Michael’s School, Durgapur, hoisted the National Flag with lot of pride and passion at 8.00 a.m. The celebration of the 78th Independence Day was graced by the august presence of Colonel Hardeep Singh Bhatia, the Chief Guest and his wife Mrs. Sricheta Chowdhury, a PhD research scholar at the IIT, Kharagpur; the Guest of Honour, Mr.Pankaj Shrivastava, who is the Senior Chairperson of Dinman Polypack Industry and the School Chaplin, Rev. Sandipan Sinha.
The National Anthem evoking eulogies of the history and traditions of the nation resounded in the air. This was followed by a pulchritudinous cultural programme, every bit of which resonated mellifluously that there is still hope to evolve with the true meaning of Independence. An Opening Dance represented the diverse cultures of India. Our honourable guests were felicitated by the Principal and the Headmistress. A senior student delivered a speech on the significance of the day. The Orchestra played a patriotic song which was followed by a patriotic drama on cultural milieu.
Teachers had also contributed to the melodious morning with a choir presentation. At the end of the cultural program the Chief Guest addressed the audience and the programme concluded with the Principal’s Vote of Thanks.
